Application of Medical Devices Regulation to be postponed?

Will the Life Sciences industry and the Commission go the extra mile to fight coronavirus by postponing the Medical Devices Regulation?

Application of the new Medical Devices Regulation scheduled for the end of May 2020 is likely to be postponed for one year.

Governments are making a tremendous effort to arm the healthcare sector with pharmaceutical and medical device solutions to tackle the coronavirus.

So support from the Commission is highly appreciated by the Life Sciences industry.

The Commission aims to submit a proposal to the Parliament and Council in the upcoming weeks to postpone the MDR’s date of application.

Hopefully, the Parliament and Council will both act quickly and adopt an amendment before the end of May 2020.
