The New Year brings with it another obligation for employers in Slovakia.
According to the amendment to Act No. 355/2007 Coll. on the Protection, Support and Development of Public Health, dated 2018, every year by 15 January employers must provide the Public Health Authority with information on employees who have performed work classified as work of the second category by 31 December of the previous calendar year.
Work of the second category includes work which should not present a risk of damage to health, but where a negative response of the organism to the work factors and work environment cannot be excluded. These include, for example, positions where employees use a computer. Other risk factors include noise, vibration and ion radiation.
For the first time, employers have to fill in an electronic form in which they will specify the workplace, the position and the work factors and work environment to which the employees are exposed, as well as the number of employees in these workplaces as of 31 December 2018. The completed electronic form must be sent by e-mail to the Public Health Authority. The employers are obliged to provide the same information to employee representatives, if such operate at the employer.
Failure to comply with this obligation could result in a fine for the employer, amounting from EUR 150 up to EUR 20,000.
